About READY ROCKAWAY
Ready Rockaway (the vision) began as a 2003 petition to the NYC Council, for a funding initiave to train Primary Healthcare Centers in Emergency Management.
RR's founder, Zandra Meyers attended that training representing the Rockaway mainstay Healthcare facility, Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center. She went on to join Primary Care Development Corporation's presentation team which entailed a series of emergency management presentations throughout the five boroughs.
Ready Rockaway went on to propose and win a competitive grant award from the NYC, Dept. of Health & Mental Hygiene. They created a network of Rockaway Healthcare coalition (Hospital's , Nursing Homes, etc.) as well as strong collaborations with Emergency Management Educators, Facilitators, and Volunteer groups like Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT) as well as Local Experts like Citywide Disaster Services, Inc and Mastery Learning Arts (MLA) Training Center; as well as others.
